Halloween 2007

I don't know that I'm completely happy with this LO. It looks so simple and yet it has taken quite a bit of time to complete. I've been fiddling around in PSE6, and can't make it do what I want it to do. I should have just created the background paper and done the rest the old fashioned way - cut out some paper!

6 & 7 Minutes New

Another digital LO. I did this first in Powerpoint and wasn't (and still am not) for sure how I was going to print it out. I liked the LO just fine, but since it was digital it just looked flat and that is the one thing I don't like about digital - but the things I love about digital (the speed, the ability to make two similar LOs at once and the ability to reuse things easily) make it hard to not give it a try. I downloaded a trial version of Adobe Photoshop Elements and piddled around long enough to figure out how to do a few things - drop shadows being one of them (so easy), and edited this page enough so that now it looks a bit more "real". I'll post one before pic, and then the two final versions - you can see if you can tell a difference.

One (marvelous amazing) Year

This LO was totally scraplifted - but the idea was too charming not to repeat. The original was from 2 Peas in a Bucket. I think I like the cropping on the original one better, so this one hasn't been printed yet either so that I can try again. It took a while to find photos of both of them that work for this LO.

From a Little Baby to a Little Lady

OK - totally original LO design on my part. So far it's just digital, it hasn't made it's way to paper yet. I'm going to write in the values so that it looks sort of the same by the time the girls get 10 years old. I did this one in Powerpoint & Microsoft Picture It.

Love at First Sight

This is our first family photo. I had been stuck trying to find the right way to set off this single photo. One of the medical staff took it for us in the OR. This is my first attempt at a 100% digital LO - only I did it in Microsoft Powerpoint, so it's missing some of the definition to make it look layered. I ended up printing it out in pieces and layering it for their book, so it doesn't look quite as flat as it does here.

Anticipation

This LO was inspired by one at 2 Peas in a Bucket. I was so lucky to have quite a few ultrasound pictures. I had tried to do them earlier with some more of the rub-on words from Making Memories, but they just seemed blah. The inspiration LO got me looking for strips & dots and gave me the inspiration title. These pages all have Iva's pictures on them, but I'll have similar pages for Alena's book.

Growing My Girls

The inspiration for my "girl" blog. This is once again a scraplift - who has time for original creativity?? This is mostly a paper layout with only the journaling being done on the computer & the tape measures too.

& All The Things I Dreamed Of

This is a scraplift from a page I saw on the web a few years back. I can't find it again now to give the original designer proper credit, but it was done in neutrals and was for a little boy. This is also my first real use of "freebies" - digital elements and paper packs available from digital scrapbook designers. So I printed all the patterned paper on my printer and pieced it together to get the look. The title was done using Word Art so that the letters would all be the same height even though it's a mix of upper & lower case. The chipboard looking embellishment was made in Word Art too.

Family Tree Pages

These were also done in the fall of 2006. Many thanks to all those in the Bange & Plummer families who have accumulated all the family data, it is certainly amazing to see 5 generations of information. Hopefully we'll make a trip to Bosnia someday and gather the information for Vince's side.

I did the family tree first in Excel and then transferred it to Word to get it to print. If you'd like to get a copy of the Excel file template to creat your own click here

Heaven Sent

I did these SO long ago. The letters are just simply cut from paper and the largest letter is adhered with foam to make it stand out.

Why a Scrapbook Blog???

Well, I scraplift so many layouts (LO), that there isn't a good spot to put them on the web, so I thought I'd just make my own space and still give credit to the designers so that others may find inspiration and I can remember this process as I turn from a paper/hybrid scrapper to a digital one - still lots of paper to use first!
